Open houses on the Contrecœur project: the Port of Montreal invites residents to take part
The Port of Montreal wants residents to learn more about its expansion project in Contrecoeur! Two exclusive open-house evenings are being held on June 18 and 20 to update residents on the project and let them discuss issues with teams of experts when they visit any or all of the booths.
There will be six thematic stations on various topics covering key aspects of the project, namely:
- Overview of the Port of Montreal and the major objectives of its expansion project
- Project development and timeline, from the original concept to the planned commissioning of the terminal
- The environment, including planned environmental measures, monitoring programs and compensation plans
- Relations with neighbouring communities, including mitigation measures, information tools and supported organizations
- Economic benefits in terms of job creation, tax revenues and business development
- Transportation, including truck traffic near the future terminal
Visual presentations and detailed maps of the project will also be available for consultation.

“Our objective with these open houses is to strengthen the bridge of trust and transparency between the Port of Montreal and the Contrecoeur region. We’re determined to uphold an open and constructive dialogue because we firmly believe that the success of this project depends on our ability to work collaboratively with local residents. We want to share the efforts we are making and the ideas we have for shaping the future of our region together,” said Paul Bird, Chief Commercial Officer.
